Aberla Energy has announced a new partnership with Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council, to provide solar PV across social housing and commercial premises.
It will form part of the ‘Low Carbon Barrow Programme’, which is looking to reduce the council’s emission by rolling solar PV systems to residents across the borough. Aberla Energy – which is part of the part of the Northwest based Aberla Group – will install approximately 300kWp through the partnership.
The scheme was awarded under the Procure Plus Installation and Repair Framework, and is being part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as well as the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.
“Aberla is proud to be in partnership with Barrow Borough Council and I have no doubt the team will show our capabilities on site,” added Paul McCarren, chief executive officer at Aberla.
The agreement follows Aberla installing a 50kWp rooftop-mounted solar PV system for Herefordshire Council in May 2021. It has also signed similar agreements with the likes of the Progress Housing Group – with whom they signed a three-year solar contract in March 2021 – and one of the largest public sector housing solar PV contracts with Cheshire West and Chester Council.
