Infrastructure asset management firm Arjun Infrastructure Partners (AIP) has acquired two UK solar portfolios from Ancala Partners LLP.

With a combined capacity of 97MW, the portfolios consist of 21 solar parks. They were sold for an undisclosed sum to funds managed by AIP.

Ancala structured and financed the development of the portfolios in 2016 and oversaw their operation until the sale.

In 2017, Anesco retrofitted 10 of the sites with utility-scale storage totalling 12MWh. The batteries are used to provide grid balancing and frequency response services to National Grid.

Lee Mellor, partner at Ancala Partners, said: “We are delighted to have led the development and operation of this high quality and diversified portfolio of solar assets. The portfolio has outperformed our business plan and will generate a significant return for our investors.”
