Atrato has confirmed the appointment of Tim Roebuck as senior commercial manager from energy supplier SSE.

The alternative investment management firm bolstered its renewable energy team in a bid to capitalise on the growing interest surrounding the renewable sector. The hiring comes as the company looks to increase the deployment of onsite solar installations to reduce business energy bills.

In early 2022, Atrato highlighted that high power prices were driving significant interest in its rooftop PV solutions from commercial customers looking to protect themselves from the high prices by becoming more self-sufficient for energy. This includes companies like Nissan, the car manufacturer that Atrato is developing a 20MWp solar project for.

With a new senior hiring within the business, Atrato aims to increase its presence within the solar market. This will be achieved by supporting the deployment strategy for Atrato Onsite Energy, which trades under the ticker ROOF – the only investment trust dedicated to UK commercial onsite energy generation, the firm said.

“I am thrilled to welcome Roebuck into Atrato’s growing renewables team – a move that further signals our commitment to bolstering our capability. He has developed strong corporate relationships over the past decade, and he will undoubtedly prove to be a major asset to the team as we seek to build out solar at Britain’s businesses,” said Gurpreet Gujral, managing director at Atrato.

Roebuck spent a little over a year operating as a business development manager at SSE Energy Solutions. In this role, he helped deliver distributed energy solutions for corporate clients. Prior to this he operated as head f business development at AirEx Technologies – a role he held for two years.

Commenting on his appointment, Roebuck said: “The Atrato Onsite Energy strategy helps reduce energy bills, reinforces power supply security, and is a quick win for corporate net-zero transition. ROOF covers finance, installation, and maintenance in a one-stop-shop solution.

“A typical solar installation takes three to four months, delivering traceable green energy at a contracted price that offers both certainty and significant savings. I’m delighted to be joining the Atrato team at this critical time for companies facing rising energy price pressures.”
