Clean Solar Solutions (CSS) has completed the acquisition of a multi-megawatt operation and maintenance (O&M) portfolio from Powersun, which includes both roof and ground mounted sites across areas of the Midlands.
This marks CCS’s first acquisition since it was launched in 2013, and builds on the company’s relationship with Powersun, with the two companies having contracted each other for electrical and cleaning works over many years.
CCS will manage the new sites – which are spread across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire – in all aspects of O&M from monitoring to cleaning increasing the company’s O&M portfolio.
O&M is a crucial aspect in ramping up solar technologies and distribution. As capacity continues to grow in light of climate targets, being able to maintain and monitor solar sites will be vital in ensuring the UK can transition away from fossil fuel reliance.
“This is the first of a number of O&M contracts that we as a company are seeking to acquire. It is the latest sign of our being a progressive O&M company with a secure long-term future,” said Steve Williams, managing director of Clean Solar Solutions.
“To start to acquire O&M portfolios in this way is a far cry from where CSS began, as a one-man band, but the progression has been excellent. I am very proud of the team we have who work tirelessly to move the company forward.”
At the start of 2021, CSS opened its second UK office in Salisbury, Wiltshire, in a bid to secure new clients, expand its operations and “reduce response time to clients and take on more clients that are in the area,” as Williams told Solar Power Portal at the time.
Williams said that Clean Solar, which claimed a UK solar first in 2018 by investing in robotic panel cleaning, handled O&M for between 1.8 and 1.9 million panels globally in January 2021.
