Solar & Storage Live Awards 2022: Solarsense crowned contractor of the year

The solar sector gathered at the Hilton Metropole for the sparkling Solar & Storage Live Awards 2022, crowning this year's winners.

Solarsense took home the coveted Contractor of the Year Award, while Clean Solar Solutions became the first to win the Operations and Management Award and Wilson Power Solutions the first to win the Networks and Connections Award.

A total of 12 awards were handed out, win AR Power taking home Residential Solar Project of the Year, PAUA Start-Up of the Year and Midsummer Wholesaler/Distributor of the Year.

Additionally, the lifetime achievement award went to Sebastian Berry, who worked for SolarCentury for 17 years from 2001 and was instrumental in driving forwards the solar sector in the UK, including work on the feed-in tariff campaign and ‘We Support Solar’ campaign. 

"It’s easy to forget now that before the feed-in tariff started in 2010, the UK solar market was still just a few MWp per year. At the time we thought that was good progress. We measured progress in getting an extra MW or two per year," he said on the night.

"Now look at us. Look at this amazing event. Solar is now the mainstream."
